Excellence
The one thing that I can say I learned the most this year is excellence in writing. I chose this word because it means to do your best every time you try. To actually make my writing have a purpose and how to convey that purpose to the reader. Before I was just writing and doing what ever I thought was right, now I am actually stopping and thinking what I have to do to make this work. When I had to do our first paper it took me years to write, for I had no idea what to put. That is because I did not have the knowledge to put down. I had to know the process on how to write first. When we read Bitzer that is what helped me the most in regards of what I need to write in order to get my point across. He had laid it our perfectly. Although his writing was a bit confusing to read, it was all there and made sense. Secondly the other works in class that helped be the most was the article by Nicolas Carr, Is Google making us Stupid. It was not about google as much, but more the fact of how genre is changing. That people do not want to read anymore. They are getting tired of even reading a simple blog article as this, and they turn to simple search engines to find what they want. This helped me realize that you definitely need to know the correct medium on what to publish your writing in order to convey your point to the indented audience for the most affect. Last but not least the last work that we read in class that helped me the most is Why I write, by paul Aster. In this he bring to light that we should have an emotional connection to our writing in a way. That there is some part of us that must form those words on the page. Everyone is different and so everyone has a different writing process and different reason for why they write. I know mine and am going to continue to show excellence through it.
