Ok, guys. You will be creating your own mini version of "Not (Necessarily) a Cosmic Convergence." Obviously you have restrictions because you are publishing your text in a blog as well as the time restraint (it is due Tuesday). Also, the piece began as performance piece, and you won't need to include that element. Last you aren't creating a web page, so your end product will not look exactly like theirs did.
What I do want you to do is work with the concept of embedded genres to create a multi-genre (and multi-module) text. Inside your post you can use images, links, and videos. You also should play with text formatting--colors, sizes, fonts, etc. You can do this by clicking on "new post" and creating your own post.
You need to pick a topic to work with, so pick something that is relevant to pop culture right now (must be in pop culture right now) and that you like/enjoy (i.e. reality TV, vampires, game shows, sports team, music, etc, etc).
Guidelines:
1. Have multiple genres working inside of one another (these genres are limitless, so don't think you need to stick with only creative writing)
**This is probably the hardest part. You actually need to have multiple genres working inside of this post, and they need to be real genres.
2. Use at least two images and/or links and/or videos
3. Play with formatting to show different styles, voices, etc
4. Your work should be original (this means you don't take other people's texts and call them your own...you can use quotes but make sure you indicate they are quotes)
5. It should be over 500 words
6. It should be cohesive (if you notice Vielstimmig text does have this element)
7. Have fun with this...i.e. don't flip out b/c it is a kind of "different" way of composing. There is no right or wrong response to this.
8. You need to create a "new post" do NOT comment back to these instructions
9. Be aware that b/c you are working within a blog posting there are limitations to what you can do, so simply work around these
10. Click on "preview" BEFORE you post to make sure that the images fix within the post and that everything flows together--you do this by hitting "preview" while you are editing, but you can also go back into your post once you have hit publish post and edit it by going to "edit posts" and clicking on yours.
11. When you are finished you click on "publish post"
12. Good luck ;-)
Due: Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
