Ultra Music Festival

The music is blasting. You suddenly feel disoriented by all the lights that are flashing all around you. Everyone around you seems to be dressed oddly. Some people are spinning what appear to be big balls of fire or fire poi. You look up and remember you have arrived at Ultra Music Festival. You realize you’re in for an amazing time.

You look around and you are suddenly aware of music is blaring to one side of you; this music being the amazing genre Drum and Bass. The band on the stage being star performers Pendulum. They are playing on the main stage and the crowd is going wild. Everyone around you is frantically dancing and you begin because the music has caught you in the spirit of EDMor Electro Dance Music.

After that is done you walk around only to find an article on the floor about ultra being sold out this year. It also talks about the great revenue it is pulling in for the city of Miami and the amazing atmosphere everyone is “raving” about.

You walk around only to meet a few artists that have come to enjoy the amazing experience that is Ultra. They are artists who have inspiration because of the electro music they listen to and the amazing feelings it produces in their heart. You smile and ask if they can show you some of their art, one of them pulls out their phone and shows you.

You then look to right and see the dubstep stage that has been set up. You think to yourself what is “dubstep” well dubstep is the brand new electronic genre that combines elements from other genres such as trance and drum and bass. Dubstep is much more then that though, dubstep is based off on sixteenth notes in a varying degrees of pitch usually in a bass like manner repeated over and over again with different samples and beats spliced in to make one song. Some of the dubstep artists playing this year are skream, benga, rusko, and many more.

After you are done ith the dubstep part of the festival you see a strangely clad girl and man on a synth. They announce themselves as crystal castles and the crowd goes wild. Crystal castles is an amazing band who uses electro, punk, and trance to create an involving experience which has been met by high praise by critics all over the world with many high profile producers remixing their works and many national tabloids hailing them as the most creative project to come out in years in a genre that many people consider stagnet.

It’s the end of the day and Deadmau5 comes on. He is wearing his signature mouse hat and he is about to start performing. Deadmau5 is an electro house artist who made it big last year with his album ghosts and things. Soon everyone in the electro community knew his name and he was headlining for ultra, producing beats is what he is best at and he seems like he is having a lot of fun playing for the crowd. Other house DJS that are playing include Swedish house mafia and tiesto.
