Post-Reflection over Inquiry-based Essay

At this point, you have done several different genres that have broken down the stages of research essay. You have analyzed your research process; you have created a research story; and you have discussed the good, the bad, and the ugly. The last thing you need to do for this research essay is bring all of it together: what did you learn throughout this process? What type of knowledge did you gain? What rhetorical skills transferred from assignment #1 to assignment #2? And last, conclude by beginning to theorize—what, right now, does your theory of writing look like? Describe it. What terms are important to this theory? Why might you need a theory of writing?

This post should be 350-500 words.

  1. I think the greatest thing that I learned was to actually research. I had to actually sit down and analyze the information that I had access to and sift through it. In high school you know how research papers are, they are the same as anything else and you can always quote Wikipedia. Not the case with this paper. At a last minute and completely random chance I also was give the chance to talk to the leading neuroscience doctor at the FSU med school. It was the best interview I have ever had in my life, we went over every single aspect about my topic in so much detail. I could have written so much more but decided to stick straight to the point. I had an understanding of this topic before I started but not nearly to the extent. It truly gave me a grasp on how to research something. Nonetheless, I most definitely used the theories of writing that I talked about in my first paper on how to used rhetorical situation to mold what you say to a certain audience. That could be seen in this is how the words used set the tone for the audience and in the end made the genre of the research paper. It complimented my theory due to the fact that it followed it perfectly. It has not changed in any way and will stay the same. For you theory of writing affects how you as a person will write and how you also will interpret what you read. That makes it a very important concept when it comes down to writing. The rhetorical situation that I wrote in made this a research based paper and was intended to be read by a certain group of people. The two important things that need to always though about while in the process of writing. I believe that I have now realized what I need to do every time when it comes down to different genre. Practice never hurt anybody though.

  2. Throughout this process, I learned that you can acquire a lot of information not just searching on Google and in databases, but by talking to many people who are knowledgeable on the subject. I knew that interviews and observations could give me information, but I did not think that I would find so much information. I just got more detailed knowledge on my subject, because I was pretty knowledgeable previous to this assignment. My writing strategy was basically the same, I choose the sources I wanted to use, I went through and analyzed them, like I did with the pieces I used in the first assignment, choose the information that I thought would best support my claims and ideas, and gave direct quotes and information that was related to my subject. My organization was also similar, I began by my research, then an outline, then draft 1, draft 2, and my final draft. Terms that are important to my theory are audience, because without knowing my audience I don’t know who I am writing to and it is going to be difficult to keep them engaged if they do not know what I am talking about or where I am coming from. Also my genre because if I understand my audience I will understand the proper genre because it will help me write in a way that my audience understands. I might need a theory of writing because it will help keep my on a particular pace when writing, and it will give me, in my own way, a style of writing that is more particular to me rather than just be the same as everyone else.

  3. The process that I have gone through to finalize and complete this research paper is completely different from the source based article that we had to write for assignment #1. Through this process I have learned the difference between the distinct styles of writing depending on what genre you are writing in or what topic you are writing about. By working with a partner on our second draft in the workshop I was able to see the difference between writing styles in two completely different pieces of work. Madison (my workshop partner) for example was writing about tattoos and trying to target an audience that reads a magazine like Rolling Stone, while I was writing about college football and targeting a Sports Illustrated type of magazine. The contrasts in these styles of writing was directly linked to our target audience much like in assignment one. Based on what I have seen and learned so far I would have to say that my theory of writing bases itself on who or what your audience is. From what I’ve seen so far, the way you write and the diction you use is mostly dictated by who your target audience is. The other thing that impacts how or why you write is your topic. If I were writing about religion my diction and tone would be completely different than if I were writing about sports or something like that. The way that a writer puts his ideas on paper is entirely influenced by their target audience, the topic, and the genre of the piece they are writing. I think that every writer should have their own theory of writing based on these same basic principles because every writer should have their own voice. No two writers should be the same and therefore, my paper should never get confused with another student’s. This is the why each writer should have a theory of writing; to be able to have your own voice and your own style of writing. If you do not have a theory of writing as a writer, your papers or stories will never be as good as they could be, because they will be read just like everyone else’s. I guess that my second theory of writing is that every writer should have a theory of writing.

  4. Surprisingly, this research essay was really enjoyable to write. I had enough information to meet the page expectations. Also, I had enough information to probably last me a lifetime on same-sex marriage. If I could go until the day I die without hearing a political issue about it (unless it was legalized) that would be too soon. I learned a lot of from choosing this topic to write my paper. I learned a lot about the history, Amendment 2, Baehr v Lewin, and an important event that caused a revolution for gay activists. I am really glad I chose this topic instead of writing about Facebook, or tattoos because I think it was important for me to understand the reasons of why my uncle couldn’t marry his partner in the near future. As said in my proposal a few weeks ago, I wanted something that would keep my interest flowing throughout the entire process, and that’s exactly what the topic of same-sex marriage did for me. The observations and my interview I will admit I was nervous about because I don’t really like talking with people 1 on 1 about political issues, and I was just nervous about not being able to get into the club on Friday night. As far as rhetorical skills go that transferred from the first major assignment to this research paper, I really don’t believe any did. I didn’t do anything differently with how I approached or “attacked” my paper and I allowed myself enough wiggle room to email you and receive feedback. I would have liked to gain some new rhetorical skills during this assignment, something new on my plate for a change would have been good for me. My theory of writing is complex. I mean I always think about the audience and the genre and of course the topic of the paper but it’s just complex. I need a theory of writing because it helps me understand what I’m writing about in any assignment that I do for the ENC1102 class and any other class that involves a paper or two. It helps me think about how I want to write or start my paper and finish it with a bang! My theory is complex but I know somewhere down the road during the years I’m here at Florida State, it will unwind and become something more simple. It could have been simple all along it was just right under my nose.

  5. After enduring the ups and downs of constructing a research paper from complete scratch there is more than one thing that I’ve learned. The first and one of the most valuable lessons learned is to be very careful in picking a topic. Not even the general topic but how you phrase and specify will prove vital. The second is that you need to keep your research question and thesis statement in mind throughout the whole writing process. Missing that target will defeat the entire paper. I learned an immense amount about the red wine industry; from a literary stand point though, it was made clear how much strength solid quotations give to your ideas and writing in general. The main skill that was carried over from assignment one to two was the ability to successfully incorporate quotations as well as choosing carefully what to quote. My theory of writing still hasn’t altered much since day number one. Yes it probably should have but I still haven’t made any revelations. The most important term to my theory of writing is genre. The same message can be communicated through any number of different genres but careful selection of the most effective one will make or break your paper.

  6. This research process has been very informative. The process for me started out a little slow because I was really dreading; I never really like writing especially research papers because I would pick those boring topics or the teacher would pick the topic and I really wouldn’t get into it. I started to really get into the paper really late. If I could go back that would definitely be something I change. I would have also done a little more research on the whole mental aspect of the sport because I think it is very important. The mental aspect is something that I really struggle with as an athlete. So, as a athlete I have developed from high school to finally after months and months college. As a writer I have developed; this research paper has taught me a lot.it has taught me about writing and the MLA format. For example before I always put the wrong language in my essays, most of the time I would use you and sometimes I.I also know that you use genre and consider audience I had no idea to write for a audience let alone a genre. I basically could have not really known what a genre really was. I also didn’t really know the format in MLA in the past I just got points taken off because I didn’t want to take the time to look it up. I thought that that MLA format was really stupid and I never really cared for writing. Not only has it taught me about writing and the MLA format it has taught me about shot put and my technique. Because of this paper I have improve in throwing drastically my coach thinks it’s because I listen to him more, not really it’s because of my research. When he talk about certain things I can understand what he is saying and actually do what he is asking. I really do thing before a person does anything they should really research it. So all in all I think this has been a very positive experience for me.

  7. Throughout this process for assignment two, I have learned so many things I would not have expected to. I have never done an interview or an observation before the way I did for this paper, so doing that was an experience and learning process of its own. I liked how I how to actually investigate my own research which in the same way helped me learn about my topic. I learned that before I could begin with writing my paper, I needed to also have all of my sources and plan out what topics I wanted to cover in my paper and how I would approach them. Knowledge that I have gained from this was not only staying away from procrastination, but also, I learned how to use MLA format a lot better than I have ever used it and knew how to before. I got to practice making a works cited page which is something I have not had to do too often but I know will be beneficial in other classes I take in the future. Skills that I learned from assignment one and was able to bring over and use for assignment two was knowing how to speak to my audience and distinguish what type of genre my paper was. By knowing my audience, I was capable of knowing how to speak to them by adjusting my tone and word choices to fit in with who my audience was. Because of learning genre and audience from my first paper, which I also got to use for my second one, my theory of writing has been defined. It consists of two terms: genre and audience. These two terms define my theory of writing because they point out the most important things in a paper that many people fail to realize because it is behind the actual text. Not only me, but we all need this theory of writing because it is used in everything we write down, from a sticky note to a letter. It not only shapes the way we choose words and the tone, but it helps us slow down our writing process because it makes us think and have to incorporate what audience and genre do for us in our papers: tone and word choice.

  8. Throughout this process I learned quite a few techniques to writing a research paper. First and foremost, through the curious researcher, I found many tips to writing. The author was very informative and encouraging in steering readers into the right direction for when it came to writing our own piece, which I needed to hear. I now have a better understanding of grammatical issues and how to address them. I gained the knowledge of my research topic and am now far more informed on the benefits of marriage than I was before I began researching. I also for once in my life did not completely wait until the last minute to write my essay which was definitely beneficial. Through all of the loops we had to jump through to met certain criteria I was able to stay on top of the assignment which was nice for a change since I am usually the worst procrastinator you have ever met. The skills that transferred from the first assignment to this second essay was the understanding of the importance of the literary terms audience, genre, and rhetorical situation. Each implied to this research paper tremendously and will apply to all writings I have in the future since good writing cannot exist without the consideration of each term collectively. The basic underlining message behind my theory of writing has not drastically changed, for the most part it has now just been enhanced with proper terms and techniques. Writing to me is either an assignment for school or a way for a someone to clear what is on their mind, to inform, or to better understand a topic, my theory of writing is simply just that. Writing is an outlet for individuals to express what is on their mind in written form. It is important to have a theory of writing for it is a basis to refer back to and to keep in mind while writing any paper.

  9. what I learned though out this process is that a research paper consist of a lot of research and you really have to learn how to organize all your information to create a fluent paper. In addition I learned a lot on choosing the topic for this research paper and really figuring out with topic would make my best personal and informational. The topic How rap music has influenced our society in a good way but also bad way was a topic that has always bothered me. I learned that not many people see rappers by what they do outside of music but more on what try express in their music. What I also learned is how to write a research essay using a lot of supporting details and really getting deep into my topic question. The skills that transferred from assignment #1 too assignment #2 are the way I look up research for a topic. It is easy to find information about any topic but how much of that information is actually liable. The theory of writing to me stills has not changed, I still feel like the theory of writing is composed of genre, audience and rhetorical situation. Even when we switched the genre of our essays i was still able to recognize that audience still played a huge role in my paper but also rhetorical situation and the reasoning behind all my research. In addition to those concepts I believe that organization and voice play a huge role when writing a paper. I believe this because many papers that have solid organization of information and have a nice fluent flow to it, then in reality you can write about anything and people will still be interested because how fluent your paper flows as the reader reads your paper. The reason you need a theory of writing is because like everything else you do in your life you need to follow a set of rules that will help you do your job the best. The theory of writing acts like very broad guidelines that you can follow to make sure that your paper is good.

  10. Throughout this writing process, I learned a great deal. I definitely learned that you should not wait until last minute to start doing research and you should not always assume it is going to be so easy to find. I also learned that you should fully examine what it is you are trying to do within your paper; you need to stay on track and know how to search for your research by using specific key terms, reading summaries (if available) of the sources to find out what they are about, and make sure they are scholarly. While I did have to put a little more effort into finding the sources because of all this, it paid off because I was able to filter out a lot of unnecessary and useless information that would have just gotten in my way. Thankfully, the first essay taught me to write according to my genre, to my audience, and to pay attention to my rhetorical situation. Because of this, I feel like my essay was more connected. I wrote to a specific discourse community: people with some sort of opinion on tattoos. My audience also included Ms. Taczak, so I had to make sure to explain everything thoroughly to avoid any confusion. The genre, a research essay, made it easy to follow a certain format. Last, the rhetorical situation, combined with the audience, includes the reason why I wrote this essay, which was to answer (or get as close to answering as possible) the question of why tattoos are still taboo when such a large population of people have them. It also includes my restraints, which were that I was not an expert in this field, it was difficult to do an observation, and scholarly sources were difficult to find. Right now, my theory of writing is still incomplete. However, throughout this course, I have obtained quite a bit of knowledge on different aspects of writing in which I can attribute to my own theory of writing. As of right now, it is that all writing has a definite author, genre, and purpose. All writing also contains some sort of constraints- whether it be talking about a difficult topic, a broad audience, or even a lack of sources, writing will always have its difficulties. When writing, it is important to keep your own writing process in mind. Once you find that niche that works for you, stick with it because it’s probably from that niche that your best work will derive from. This process is everything from the first brainstorm you partake in to the reflection that you write or have after your work is complete- every part of the writing process is important. It’s important to have a theory of writing because it’s important to know what you think writing is and how you should go about doing it. Writing is different for everyone- no two people can have the same process and definitions for different techniques of writing. Having your own can make writing easier and more enjoyable for you.

  11. Throughout the process of writing assignment #2, the research essay, I learned many different things. First of all I learned that not all writing assignments are as dreadful as some may be. Secondly I learned that writing a research paper doesn’t need to have the scary stigma that comes with the name. Third I learned how to include proper research into my essay as well as learned how to distinguish bad sources from credible sources. More than anything, however, I learned that the process of writing an academic research paper, isn’t too different from writing other essays, they just include a more analytic point of view with more proper research to back up the points. As long as you do the research, it remains as harmless as writing any other paper.
The rhetorical skills that transferred from writing the first paper is more prominently to consider the audience at hand. Audience is who you are trying to convey your message to, so considering them is of great importance. Another rhetorical skill that transferred is the general process from coming up with an idea to putting it down on paper, to formulating a legitimate paper from it. The idea of the first paper was to learn the difference and importance of the three major writing concepts. These three concepts are obviously going to translate into almost any future paper that has to be written. That was the whole point of the first paper in my understanding. Ultimately there were a set of rhetorical skills that had to be carried over, assuming the paper was written successfully.
Currently, my theory of writing is still developing, however, due to our first two assignments we have a solid basis of what the theory is starting to contain. Consider the message that you are trying to rely. How can this message be most efficiently conveyed? Why are you writing it? Who are you writing it to? This idea of a theory of writing is important in the sense that writing is something that is extremely useful in general. Being able to do this to maximum efficiency will improve our quality of life through improving the quality of communication.

  12. Throughout this process, I learned that it is not that hard to write a research paper. Going through little steps and following activities from the curious researcher allowed the process of writing my paper to be a whole lot smoother. I also gained knowledge from the topic of my paper. I wrote about the hardship of getting into medical school. I felt like I was being enlightened throughout the whole process. Since my topic really interested me, I was not scared to deep for more information to learn more about medical schools. Almost all of the rhetorical skills from last paper transferred to this one. I still had to make sure that my audience was engaged in my paper, (since they will be the ones who will be reading it). Now, my theory of writing looks like a process that includes many different elements that all come together to make good essay. For example some of these terms include genre, and audience. A theory of writing is important in order to formulate a strong essay.

  13. While doing this paper I have learned that it’s so much easier to space out everything that you need to do instead of waiting to the last minute. I worked on my paper a little bit at a time and it was so much easier and less stressful then the first assignment when I didn’t give myself enough time. I learned the concept of time management in this paper, not English related but still valuable. I also learned about my topic as I researched, there were things that I could even testify to. On the other hand the same things apply to any papers you write which are genre, audience and rhetorical situation. You have to keep all of those in mind when you want to successfully write. These help guide your process of writing and keep you on task.
I believe that my theory of writing is portrayal of some sort of emotion, audience, a little genre and diction. I believe that everything in life evokes some sort of emotion so why wouldn’t this be true in writing. Writing to me is kind of like a written conversation. It’s the author talking to the audience there for you have to realize who you are addressing; I also feel that with audience comes genre. They go hand and hand to me. I haven’t achieved my theory of writing but I’m not sure if it’s ever achievable but with every paper I write I try to make it better than the last. I feel like we need a theory of writing so we can write, just in general. You need something to write to and write for. There is always a rhetorical situation with everything you write. My theory of writing will always vary depending on what I’m writing for. I will always been improving my writing so I believe that as I conquer the parts of my theory of writing I will have to replace it with something else.

  14. This research paper gave me the freedom to built my own path while completely an assignment. Unlike our first assignment which required the use of sources already provided for us. This paper gave required me to do my own research, including interviews and observations. Being my topic began as social networking and transpired into cyber bullying, I ultimately had fun writing it. However, I found writing the first assignment easier because it was purely analysis.
My theory of writing is largely dependent on genre and audience. I just believe choosing a genre is the first step in the process of writing. You have a piece to complete and from there you pick the most effective one to put your point across. Secondly, audience is crucial to writing successfully. While writing my research paper I targeted parents as my discourse community for the sole purpose is they are the one who need to be most aware of cyber bullies. Parents need to watch their children’s activities online as well as inform their children of the dangers associated with social networking. These two terms are necessary for a theory of writing to accomplish your purpose for initially writing this piece.

  15. The process learned throughout this assignment can best be described as valuable. I learned, what I believe, is the best possible way to approach a paper, specifically a research paper. Completing the multiple steps of this assignment, such as the proposal, research story, and the blogs really improved the overall outcome of my finalized paper. A significant amount of knowledge was gained through this assignment that will, without a doubt, benefit me in future papers. I learned how to incorporate observations and interviews into a paper, which is something I was not familiar with. Not only did I learn various, valuable techniques, but I also learned a vast amount of information on the topic of chiropractic. From our first assignment, I learned how to go about creating and improving my multiple drafts. I was much more organized and time efficient on this paper because of our first assignment. At this moment, my theory of writing is established on the basis of audience and genre. In my opinion, these are the two most important factors for my writing. These two elements are the deciding factor for the tone, rhetoric, and language for my papers. As long as I can depict who my audience is and what my genre will be, I can produce a paper that could be considered good writing.

  16. I have learnt throughout the process of writing two research papers how to organize my ideas in a much better way, I have also learnt how to make my paper flow in the way that I want it to flow. With this research paper though I have learnt how to write a research paper from my own stand point, and I have learnt how to introduce a little bit of me into a paper without bring bias into it. I learnt all about the psychology communities and about a lot of studies that were done before I was born. I also learnt a great deal about how the attitudes of people have changed and how the ethics in science now days has greatly improved. Some skills that transferred after I wrote this paper was the ability to sway my audience, the ability to make my paper flow better, and how to make a conclusion that truly closed the paper instead of left it hanging. My writing for research papers has taken off by leaps and bounds even if this last one wasn’t as good as the one prior to that it is still one of the best research papers I feel I have ever written. My theory of writing write now has changed dramatically from when I first came into the class. When I first came into the class my theory of writing was much more abstract which can be a good thing but it now has taken on a much more concrete definition. I would have to say my theory on writing right now is all about the audience, if I know my audience then I know how to sway them and I know how to bring piece all together or on the other side of the spectrum I know how to start my paper off with a bang. Also if I know my audience than I know the genre which to write in which is also another very important thing I am learning about. You need a theory of writing because the theory of writing defines your writing style; it defines who you are as a writer. It takes on the personality which is you and makes it into words.

  17. While creating my essay for this inquiry research-based topic I had to first use my creativity to throw into my process of writing in order to pick a topic I would enjoy and would have great potential to research. The topic had to be interesting to me and then it was in my hands in order to make my audience, or discourse community to be interested or become engaged in my findings as they read my essay or “article.” After writing so many different kinds of genres I have learned that there is a process every single time one writes. The process may be just a little different each time, depending on the topic at hand that the genre calls for. While going through the process of writing this research paper, I learned that organization and time for preparation must be emphasized in order to complete or find an answer, theory, or research to your question, especially when there is a deadline. Being organized was important for the preparations of this essay because I needed to jot down and separate my thoughts and ideas of what I wanted to research, who I wanted to interview, where I wanted to hold my observations, and what kinds of questions I would ask during interviews. All of these steps came before I could even begin to fathom the body of my essay. Whether I should have researched before or after my observations was debated during this process. I figured knowing the topic and having some general background information for my topic would be helpful in knowing where I could observe people and knowing what to look for. After observations ad research it was now possible to conduct a interview with someone who had experience or great knowledge of my topic. Once I complied all the research, observations, and interviews I needed, I learned a lot about the topic and felt prepared to report and analyze my findings. Like the first assignment I had to write to a specific audience according to the genre of my essay in order to complement my topic. My theory of writing is a process that begins with organization or some sort of planning, in which the audience of the certain genre and topic will understand one’s reason for writing, or rhetorical discourse.

  18. Since I have concluded my essay I have gained tremendously through my experiences with the writing process. Throughout this process I learned about the preparation of research, before going into this paper I had to develop an outline which consisted of all my ideas formatted how I would want them to flow chronographically in my paper. I began researching these topics that I had ideas to write about, such as; racism, industry, drugs, tourism, and politics, sifting through adding and subtracting different ideas along the way. Also through the research process I was able to sharpen my interviewing skills, although the interviews were over the phone and not in person my endeavor was to sustain a formal and professional interview. As a result of the due process of research I acquired a lot of knowledge of the history of Miami; such things like the Tequesta Indians inhabited the land over 10,000 years before the Spaniards rediscovered it. Also if it weren’t for Henry Flagler agreeing to extend his railroad to Miami, industry would not have flocked the area, thus it would not have been able to boom as fast as it did. The rhetorical skills that transcended from assignment # 1 to assignment # 2 were first and foremost language. I spent more time browsing through the thesaurus while writing this paper to find language that was better suited to my discourse community. Utilizing closer analysis of the MLA Handbook, and the Curious Researcher, I implemented new ideas to better stylize my paper. During all the in class exercises with the help of research I strengthened my analyzing skills and my ability to paraphrase information entirely. My theory of writing is based upon the three terms; audience, rhetorical situation, and genre. When writing an essay, article, or any prose, one must always consider the audience, genre, and rhetorical situation, all three are necessary to form good rhetoric. Genre is important to the theory of writing because one needs to be able to classify their work to help keep themselves on track by labeling and narrowing your field of discourse; genre also gives the audience insight to the content of your text. Audience is significant because your audience will affect how you write, what you write, and the language you choose. Finally the rhetorical situation is essential because it is the basis of your writing it is the dynamics of what is happening now, the rhetorical situation yields your exigency, and your change. It is important as an author to be aware of the situation which you are addressing through your rhetoric.

  19. After completing now two different research papers, I taken much from the experience. Not only honing in on my abilities to connect issues between sources, but perform actual research itself. It has always been easy to find information about a topic, however, finding credible information proves much more difficult. Research must be based off of plausible sources. Beginning in research paper 1, I learned how to effectively apply my research paper to cater to a specific audience and what rhetorical skills would enrich that experience. Now finished with research paper 2, I have learned how to connect ideas together to create my own understanding and standpoint of the information gathered. I feel that before these papers, I had at times, merely restated others ideas. One can often trick themselves into thinking an ide is theirs when really it is not. Original ideas are much harder to generate, however, they add voice and style to a paper. Now I can truly say that I have written my past two papers, not anyone else. However, not only did I learn how to write stronger, but how the actual writing process works itself. I have learned what goes in to each paper I write. Being conscious of this process can be very beneficial to the soundness of ones paper. Staying aware of the rhetorical situation at hand, I can compose a paper that sincerely relates to the topic introduced. Another aspect is performing the research as I mentioned before. I had imagined performing interviews and observations would be easy. However after performing both of these acts, it proves quite the opposite. The information needed is out there. It’s just the process by which one attains it that is the rough part. In all, the lessons learned from each of these experiences have contributed to my theory of writing. I believe my theory of writing to be based of three aspects, genre, subject, and rhetoric. These three subjects provide the foundation of which all of my research papers have been built upon. Even in this blog entry do I contain each of these terms. Possessing a theory of writing is very important because it gives personality and voice to ones writing.

  20. Through out this process I have learned many different skills to enhance my writing and I have also gained more knowledge on my research topic. With my skills, I learned many great things from the correct way to format and cite a research paper to how you can incorporate personal interview into the paper. I gained a lot of new knowledge on my research paper topic and it is great because I have always wanted to know more about the issues about steroids that are not presented on a daily basis. Rhetorical skills were also a very a very important part of this process of researching. With out rhetorical skills, the success of your paper is slim to none. As of right now I would say my theory is still about the same. I believe the theory of good writing is still that no matter what topic, genre, or audience is thrown at you, as long as you reach the intended audience and write for the appropriate genre it will be a good paper. Good writing is all about individuality. As long as you’re following the criteria and still writing through your own voice it will be good writing. The terms that are most important to the theory of writing is genre, audience, and rhetorical situation. Those are the most important points you have to follow as you are trying to create literature.
